Butte College is a fully accredited Northern California community college
set in a rural environment surrounded by rolling hills, vibrant rivers and lush agricultural land. Butte College is a rare combination of leading edge programs and modern instructional space juxtaposed in a natural setting

Butte College specializes in preparing students for transfer and saving them money. When you complete your general education at Butte, you will be able to choose from hundreds of top-ranked universities across the United States. You can choose from popular majors like business management, engineering, math and social sciences or pursue a cutting edge program like graphic and digital design, environmental and sustainability studies or public health all at nearly half the cost of a California State University or University of California.

Join one of California’s leading community colleges, participate in a nationally recognized honors program (Phi Theta Kappa) and prepare yourself for the rigors of studying at some of America’s top institutions by beginning your education in a welcoming, supportive and academically challenging environment.

Butte College is the only college in the world that is located on a 928 acre wildlife refuge where 100% of its energy is generated by strategically placed solar arrays across our campus.

Butte College emphasizes sustainability in its programs and curriculum by providing over 30 course offerings that fit within the sustainability framework.

Getting involved is easy and fun with opportunities to join The Student Alliance for Sustainability, check out books and periodicals from the Sustainability Resource Center and participate in campus events like Earth Day.

Campus

Live, study and forge lifelong friendships in the heart of Northern California. The majority of international students choose to live in the city of Chico. Chico is a friendly, vibrant and cultured city full of art, recreation and diverse community activities commonly found in much larger urban areas. With both a California State University campus and Butte College in town, young college-aged students make up a significant percentage of those that call Chico home.

Because Butte College and the CSU are focal points of our community, Chico certainly has a “college town” atmosphere.  One can shop in boutique stores, participate in great discussions while sipping a favorite drink in neighborhood cafes, take in an exciting performance or just relax while dining with friends in one of Chico’s many restaurants.

Northern California

Feel like getting outside? You are in the right place. Bidwell Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States and it’s right in the center of Chico. Hiking nearby wildflower trails while breathing clean crisp air, cooling off in summer with an exciting whitewater rafting trip or kicking up fresh winter powder in a nearby ski park are all within your reach.

Transfer and Fees

Where Can Butte College Take You?

Did you know that Butte College can most likely transfer you to the university you are considering right now and save you a large amount of money?

So you want to get your bachelor’s degree from a top-ranked university but you need a higher SAT or TOEFL score? Perhaps you don’t have enough saved to afford all 4 years of studying at your university of choice. Don’t give up on your dream or settle for your back-up university; make your dream a reality by beginning your bachelor’s degree at Butte College.
